Tonight was opening night of Canterbury Fashion and Beauty Week. We will be covering the next few days' events here and on social media for the world to see fashion's latest offerings on the South Island. The events kicked off with renown New Zealand designer and philanthropist Anna Stretton who shared her business savvy with avid shoppers and devotees to her brand at The George Hotel. Her thoughts on shopping in the global village and the importance of social media in today's economy and it's importance to business growth justified the half dozen tweets we sent highlighting her speech. She also introduced her newest venture, RAW, Reclaiming Another Woman, where domestic violence abuse victims are paired with mentors who help them rebuild their lives.
This polka-dot ensemble is my choice for the evening. Front and back have very classic approaches to creating a sweet and functional frock that is truly wearable from day to day.
The short show was very hands-on with Stretton exhibiting the versatility of her stylings mid-show. Her attention to detail with the Alice in Wonderland themed range is seen in the whimsical floral patters, lace and polka-dot designs she diligently oversaw being created. Annah Stretton designs are meant to be worn. She herself was wearing a jacket of her own design that is a smart option for the coming cooler weather.
